Artist Details:Alphonse Mucha born Alfons Maria Mucha in Ivancice , Moravia (Czech Republic) in 1860. Moved to Vienna in 1879 to work for a theatrical design company. Later to Munich for formal art training at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. 1887 to Paris to study at the Academie Julian and at the Academie Colarossi. He started to design posters in the art nouveau style and became an influential commercial artist. He had a great success at the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. A prolific designer and illustrator of books and magazine covers and contributed prints, mainly lithographs, to many of the major publications of the period.
