Artist Details:Ethel King Martyn was a portrait painter, etcher and illustrator who studied under Legros at the Slade. She illustrated at least one book with etchings namely 'Fables' by R.L. Stevenson published by Longmans, Green & Co. in 1902. Elected Associate of The Royal Society of Painter Printmakers in 1892 and Fellow in 1902. She exhibited at the R.A. and works are held in the British Museum. Her early etchings were influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites especially with religious subjects, and are rarely found today.
